The CHP system installed at Wesleyan University consists of a GauscorSFGLD 360 natural gas fired reciprocating engine generator rated for 676 kW. The system also includes a heat recovery steam generator (HRSG), high temperature hot water heat recovery loop, and low temperature hot water heat recovery loop. The HRSG uses engine exhaust to produce 55-psig steam. Engine jacket heat is recovered by the high temp water loop and is used for space heating and DHW heating. Aftercooler heat is recovered by the low temperature heat loop and is used for pool heating. The system includes two dump radiators. They are piped in parallel with the high temperature heat recovery loop and low temperature heat recovery loop respectively.
